The Lucky Star Ultra is a lightweight aluminum rim with a large internal width of 28mm for pure XC use. It is characterised by its unrivalled stiffness/weight and strength/weight ratios, thanks to its profile and Dynamal aluminium.
Must be mounted with Pillar PW7048 washers. Sold with washers.
This rim inaugurates a new modern geometry lower and wider with an asymmetric profile and hookless walls. The rim holes are off-center (offset) and oriented. The offset makes a better spokes brace angle. The rim is more stable and the lateral stiffness of the wheel is increased. The spoke tensions between the two sides are more balanced, which guarantees a better durability of the wheel. The hookless rim walls allow rim reinforcement and weight reduction. Anti-burp system: the tire bead is kept in position whatever its pressure, no risk of air loss in the corners. DUKE owns its manufacturing tools. Technologies: Ultra, Anti-burp; Asymetric; Hookless; Dynamal; Oriented spoke holes; TLR; Lucky; Star; Duke french brand
This technology has been successfully used on our MTB rims since 2011. It reduces rim weight. Strength is improved. The tire is slightly bigger. Carbon rims are simpler and more economical to manufacture.
Thanks to this antiburp, the tire bead is held in position at all low pressures and under all loads, so there's no risk of the bead sliding off the rim or losing pressure even when cornering hard. Two edges prevent the tire beads from sliding horizontally towards the inside of the rim. Even after a puncture, the tire stays in place on the rim
Dynamal is 50% stronger than 6061-T6. Unlike standard alloy blends, Dynamal is a pure alloy, enriched with magnesium-silicon and combined with a confidential metal to harden it. Compared with traditional alloys, Dynamal offers a significant increase in stress and impact resistance, without any reduction in fatigue strength.
The orientation of the holes of a rim allows a perfect alignment of the nipples and spokes, which brings a better lifetime of the spokes, the rim and the wheel.
Rim offset increases lateral stiffness and wheel stability without adding weight. The rim holes are off-center, improving the spokes brace angles. By better balancing the tensions between the two spoke sides, the wheel's durability is enhanced.
A wider rim provides greater comfort for the same tire cross-section, thanks to the greater volume of air in the tire. No need to inflate so much! The greater volume also enhances performance and grip. The bike's stability when cornering is also improved: a wider inner width reduces tire rolling under the rim under lateral loads. Using a wide rim improves comfort and control.
