Scrub rotors are built from a metal-matrix composite, a cutting edge and unique
family of materials. Here is a quick rundown of the benefits:
The most obvious advantage is the weight. An
average 160mm stainless rotor weighs in at around 120 grams, or about 4.3
ounces. A Scrub rotor of the same size weighs 56.0 grams, or just a hair over 2
ounces!
The material transfers heat about 7 times more
efficiently than steel. Scrub rotors will cool down faster, and make your brakes
work better.
This composite is quite strong for how light
it is, and is stiffer than traditional aluminum alloy. Assuming that the correct size
rotor is used for your application, we do not have a weight restriction on our
product.
We don't use coatings of any kind to provide a
braking surface. That means there is nothing to wear off. You will never need to
leave your Scrub rotors home when the trails are wet or muddy.
